Adapted from MST Services:
Multisystemic Therapy (MST) is an evidence-based treatment for youth with serious behavioral problems, particularly juvenile justice involvement and/or substance use. Research demonstrates that MST reduces criminal activity and other problematic behavior. At the close of treatment, 87% of participating youth have no arrests. In addition to treating children and youth involved in the justice system, adaptations of MST have also been used successfully with children who have serious psychiatric disorders, substance use disorders, inappropriate sexual behavior, and children who have been abused or neglected.
MST is a family-driven, culturally responsive, community- and home-centered treatment that also aims to help reduce disparities in youth of color coming into contact with the juvenile justice system.
MST Services is an organization founded by the developers of MST. It offers clinical training for behavioral health providers in how to implement MST (including online courses eligible for CEUs), research on MST, and general information about the treatment for providers and families.
